The Cost of Self-Distortion in Human–AI Interaction

When AI outputs feel generic or misaligned, the problem is often attributed to the model. This paper advances a user-side account: interaction quality depends on how faithfully internal cognition is represented in language.

Two constructs are introduced: Expression Distortion Cost (EDC) and Self-Alignment Load (SAL), integrated in the Authenticity–Cost Model.
